CALCULATOR
This calculator estimates gross bonus compensation before taxes, withholding, deductions, vesting conditions, caps, clawbacks, or employer-specific plan rules.
For a percentage-based bonus, multiply annual base salary by the target bonus percentage. If the bonus plan uses a performance payout, multiply the target bonus by that performance factor.
An employee with an $80,000 base salary and a 10% target bonus has an $8,000 target bonus at a 100% performance payout.
If a plan pays 120% of target for above-target performance, an $8,000 target bonus becomes $9,600 before any other plan adjustments. A 75% payout would reduce the same target bonus to $6,000.
| Performance payout | $8,000 target bonus |
|---|---|
| 75% | $6,000 |
| 100% | $8,000 |
| 120% | $9,600 |
| 150% | $12,000 |
Some plans prorate bonuses for employees who worked only part of the performance year. The eligible-year field lets you estimate that adjustment without assuming every plan uses the same rule.
This page calculates the gross bonus amount and total gross compensation. It intentionally does not estimate federal, state, or local tax withholding because tax treatment depends on current rules and individual circumstances.
Multiply annual salary by 10%. For example, a 10% target bonus on an $80,000 salary is $8,000 before performance or proration adjustments.
A 5% bonus on a $60,000 salary is $3,000.
It is the bonus amount expressed as a percentage of base salary that an employee may receive when target conditions are met.
Some employer plans prorate bonuses based on eligible service time or other plan terms. This calculator includes a proration field for estimation.
No. It calculates gross bonus compensation before tax withholding and deductions.
